![]() MISS GOSPEL TURKS AND CAICOS Miss Gospel TCI is the brain child of Youth Minister Lorna Brown when the thought c first came in 2005 but was establish 2007 in Providenciales Turks and Caicos. As it is; parents/guardians of young ladies from faith-base groups/churches are not comfortable allowing their girls to enter a regular pageant (because of the "OUTWARD" beauty aspects attached). After much thought and prayer, Minister Lorna implemented her God-given idea which was first held in 2007 in Grand Turk. Now, these girls who regularly attend sunday and sabbath school have a Godly pageant for themselves, similar to the book of Esther. They wear the "sash" of a female bible character. They represent an island of the Turks and Caicos, called "Island girl speech"; This is when the history and culture of the Turks and Caicos is highlighted. After months of training about self-esteem, drugs, history, culture, sex education, facts of life and the BIBLE the girls are merited on the given bible study done from which they do a Exhortation or a small sermon; along with other regular pageant segments namely: evening gown, casual wear and a gospel talent. (There is no swimsuit segment). The goal is to encourage these girls to identify their own uniqueness and build their self-esteem, also as a means of knowing the bible more. This pageant is also used as a witnessing tool to other teens, especially girls, to lead them to Jesus Christ. The Turks and Caicos community,Government and private entities welcome this new approach to reach out to our youths. The aim is for the Miss Gospel TCI pageant to be an annual national youth soul-winning event. "MISS GOSPEL TCI PAGEANT" First in the history of the Turks & Caicos Islands
